Ibague University’s history
The Universidad de Ibagué is a private institution of higher education, non-profit organization, created on 27 August 1980 as Corporación Universitaria de Ibagué, CORUNIVERSITARIA. The Institution has judicial legal capacity number 1867, registered in 1981, issued by the Ministry of National Education. By Resolution No. 3304 of 17 December 2003, the recognition as a university was granted. Currently, the rector and the legal representative of the University, is Dr.César Vallejo Mejía.
The institution's mission is to promote the integral formation of leaders and entrepreneurs with solid scientific and professional training, with entrenched moral and ethical principles, and committed to the social, cultural and economic development on a regional basis. The University encourages, without distinction, race, nationality or sex, the vocational training to ensure the integral development of the human being and to contribute to the exploitation of the natural resources of the region and the general welfare of the community. It currently has 10 accredited programs of high quality.
In its vision, Universidad de Ibagué is seen as a qualified university at the national and international levels, and leader at the regional level, in the pursuit of academic excellence for the progress and development of the community.
Requirements

The Language Center started its operation in 1996 in Ambala neighborhood.
The Language Center offers courses in English, French, German, Portuguese, Chinese and Italian. Currently, it has special ties with Alliance Francaise, Fulbright, Icetex, Suny Cortland, among others to support all its operations.

The Language Center at the University of Ibagué provides services in academic training in foreign languages and translation, which contribute to the development of comprehensive competencies and allow students to enjoy fairer opportunities in the current world.

Scope
Design and provide training for work and human development in English, French.
Portuguese, German, Italian and Mandarin Chinese, as well as translation service.

Details of the work
Offered position: Full time English teacher.
Program /academic area: Language Center.
Job description:
Provide direct classroom teaching in courses related to foreign languages, especially English. Develop administrative and academic assignments in the offered languages, act as advisory assistant to third parties and for external functions. Be part of the curriculum design processes, among various other tasks.
The candidate must have qualities that allow him/her to be an effective and efficient academic trainer. Accordingly, candidate must have a proactive work ethic, positive attitude and excellent communication skills in order to interact productively within interdisciplinary environments.
Main responsibilities (approximately % of time)
- 42 hours a week.
- 4 Direct instruction courses.
- Administrative work distributed in: coordination of programs, academic preparation and follow up of proposals to external parties.
- Participation in projects, material design and evaluation, curriculum design.
- Representation of the Language Center locally, regionally and nationwide.
- Tutoring new teachers: foreign and local ones.
Knowledge, skills and experience needed for the job
Required profile:
The candidate must possess an undergraduate degree in the fields of Education, Humanities or others. The candidate must have a postgraduate on foreign-language teaching or bilingual education-related fields; or be accredited by any international teaching certification (TESOL, CELTA, TEFL, ICELT, TKT, .)
This degree must be issued by national or foreign institutions of higher education, recognized by the Ministry of National Education.
Essential experience:
- Prove at least two years of academic teaching experience
- Prove English language command minimum C1, as stated by IELTS, TOEFL, CAE, CPE tests.
Desirable Experience:
Experience in virtual learning environments related to learning a foreign language.
